Blanket Coverage

I found this beautiful blanket at the Bordeaux branch of Emmaus, the French charity run by the remarkable Abbe Pierre, who is frequently described as his country’s answer to Mother Teresa because of his selfless work with disadvantaged people.

I kept the blanket for nearly five years before I found the perfect way to use it; clipped to a curtain rail to prevent the the heat in my chilly, north-facing office, from rushing up the stairs and into the attic.

I love it for its gentle colours but even more for the wonderful label which still clings to the edge.. a flock of sheep, a church and a village all existing in a tiny, embroidered world.
