Red Oxide


When you find it on your car or your favourite old bike, rust is an enemy to be defeated at all costs. But when you find pieces like these, tumbled and battered and then offered up by the sea, rust becomes beautiful.

Both these examples came from our weekend walk at West Wittering. I’ve turned the round one into a candle-holder for the bathroom, the other reminds me of a piece of ribbon.
